V holandském Assenu se dnes rozjela osmá Velká cena letošní sezóny šampionátu MotoGP. Závodníci mají za sebou dva volné tréninky a jak je hodnotí? Z důvodu nedostatku času přeložím do češtiny jen některé a zbytek bude v originále v angličtině / Press releases of MotoGP riders after first day of practices in DutchGP in Assen 2018.
Maverick Viñales – 1. místo
CZ: „„Pracovali jsme na některých malých detailech, při kterých jsme nejvíce ztráceli v Montmeló, zejména na začátku a v prvních kolech. Byli jsme tam ke konci závodu konkurenceschopní, takže se snažíme, abych měl v úvodních kolech s motorkou dobrý pocit. V Assenu se cítím dobře, je to pro mě dobrá trať. Motorka funguje opravdu dobře a jsem spokojený s prací týmu. Stále se musíme soustředit a dosáhnout této úrovně koncentrace pro práci na malých detailech, aby to byl dobrý víkend. Chceme odstartovat co nejlépe. Posledně jsme měli problémy, ale doufáme, že to vyřešíme. Je těžké předvídat, co můžeme očekávat, ale po pozitivním prvním dni jsme na úrovni k boji v závodě.“
EN: „We worked on some small details, the parts where we lost the most in Montmeló, especially the start and the first few laps. We were competitive there at the end of the race, so we are trying to give me a good feeling with the bike in the early laps. I feel good in Assen, it’s a good track for me. The bike is working really well and I’m so happy about the work of the team. We’ll still keep focused and maintain this level of concentration to work on the small details and build up to a good weekend. We want to make the start the best we can. We were struggling last time, but we’re hoping to solve it. It’s difficult to predict what we can expect, but after a positive first day, we are on the level to fight for the race.“
Andrea Iannone – 2. místo
CZ: „Myslím, že to pro nás byl pozitivní druhý volný trénink a během odpoledne jsme pracovali dobře. V porovnání s ránem jsme se hodně zlepšili, protože jsem měl v prvním volném tréninku trochu problémy se stabilitou. Potřebujeme udělat jeden velký krok, protože ztrácíme trakci, zejména v dlouhé zatáčce a motorka se hodně klouže a prokluzuje. Budeme se to snažit zítra zlepšit. Necítím na této trati takovou změnu v nové specifikaci motoru, ale samozřejmě, že je to vždycky pozitivní, když se zlepší motor.“
EN: “I think it’s been a positive FP2 for us and we worked well during the afternoon. And we improved a lot compared to this morning, because in FP1 I struggled a bit with stability. We need to make one more big step because we’re losing traction, especially in the long corner, and we’re getting a lot of sliding and spinning. We’ll try to improve for tomorrow. I don’t feel the new spec engine that much at this track, but for sure it’s always positive to improve the engine.”
Danilo Petrucci – 3. místo
EN: „Jsem spokojený s prvním dnem volných tréninků. Ve druhém volném tréninku jsem zajel dobrý čas, i když si jsem jistý, že opravdová bitva bude zítra ve třetím volném tréninku. Pořadí v desítce nejlepších je velmi těsné, ale myslím, že máme potenciál se dostat přímo do druhé části kvalifikace.“
EN: “I am pleased with this first day of free practice. I did a good time in FP2 although I am sure that the real battle will be tomorrow in FP3. The Top 10 standings are very tight but I think we have the potential to win the direct Q2”.
Valentino Rossi – 4. místo
CZ: „Papírově jsme očekávali, že budeme v Assenu silní, ale nikdy nevíte. První den byl pozitivní, protože jsem byl dobrý ráno i odpoledne. Byl jsem ve čtveřici nejlepších, což není tak špatné. Motorka tady v Assenu funguje dobře a také pneumatiky jsou dobré. Umožňují vám na to tlačit a máte dobré tempo během spousty kol. Na druhou stranu je pravdou, že všichni přední jezdci jsou velice rychlí. Tempo je velice podobné, takže potřebujeme dobře pracovat a také zkusit poznat co nejlepší výběr pneumatik pro neděli. Doufáme, že takovéhle počasí vydrží během celého víkendu.“
EN: „On paper we expect to be strong in Assen, but you never know. The first day was positive, because I was good in the morning and also in the afternoon I was inside the top-4, which is not so bad. The bike works well here in Assen and also the tyres are good, allowing you to push and have a good pace for many laps. On the other side, it‘s also true that all the top riders are very fast. The pace is very similar, so we need to work well, also to try to understand the best tyre choice for Sunday. We hope that this weather will continue for the entire weekend.“
Cal Crutchlow – 5. místo
CZ: „Je dobré, že jsme měli konzistentní počasí. Loni jsme měli k dispozici jen první dva volné tréninky, abychom vyzkoušeli věci na motorce předtím, než začalo pršet. Je dobré, že známe plán, takže už se můžeme soustředit na zítřejší práci. Myslím, že budeme zkoušet, aby byla motorka stabilnější a budeme se snažit najít lepší přilnavost na zadku. Celkově jsme dnes byli spokojení, spokojeni s tempem a výkonem motorky. Zdá se, že je s motorkou docela těžké měnit směr, takže na tom budeme zítra také pracovat. Celkově ale nebyly časy na kolo špatné a rychlost tam byla.“
EN: “It’s good that we’ve got consistent weather, last year we only had FP1 and FP2 to try things with the bike before it started to rain. Knowing the plan ahead is good so we can start to look towards what we’ll work on tomorrow, which I think will be to try and make the bike a little bit more stable and to try and find a little more rear grip. Overall today we were pleased, pleased with the pace and the performance of the bike. The bike did seem quite difficult to ride on the change of direction and we will work on it for tomorrow, but overall the lap time was not bad and the speed was there.”
Andrea Dovizioso – 6. místo
CZ: „Dnes to byl pozitivní první den: ráno jsme dobře začali a dnes odpoledne jsme udělali další krok vpřed. Byl jsem příjemně překvapen, protože jsme v polovině tréninku jezdili ve velice dobrém tepu a upřímně, tohle jsem neočekával, protože tady v Assenu to nikdy není jednoduché. Je tu spousta rychlých jezdců, ale my jsme také rychlí a to bylo pro dnešek hlavním cílem. Nyní musíme pokračovat v práci na několika aspektech, které mohou udělat rozdíl v závodě, zatímco jedno rychlé kolo mohu zajet lépe, to bylo dnes ovlivněno velkým provozem na trati.“
EN: “Today was a positive first day: we started off well in the morning and this afternoon we made a further step forward. I’m pleasantly surprised because half-way through the session we lapped with a very good pace and to be honest I didn’t really expect that, seeing as it’s never easy here at Assen. There are a lot of fast riders out there, but we are fast as well and this was the main aim for today. Now we must continue to work on several aspects that can make all the difference in the race, while on my quick lap I could have done better but I encountered a lot of traffic.”
Jorge Lorenzo – 7. místo
CZ: „Nebyl to zvlášť brilantní den, protože jsme nebyli mezi nejrychlejšími jezdci, ale jsem docela spokojený s mými pocity a myslím, že máme velký prostor pro zlepšení. V tuto chvíli je naší slabou stránkou poslední sektor, kde stále potřebujeme poznat, jaká je správná stopa, abych mohl být tak rychlý, jako přední kluci. Také musíme upravit pár detailů v nastavení, protože je motorka trochu nestabilní v rychlých zatáčkách. Ještě máme před sebou spoustu práce, ale víme, že máme potenciál být konkurenceschopní.“
EN: “It wasn’t a particularly brilliant day because we weren’t up amongst the quickest riders, but I’m quite happy with my sensations and I think we have a wide margin for improvement. At the moment our weak point is the final sector, where I still have to understand what the right line is so I can be as quick as the leading guys, and also with the set-up we will have to modify a few details, because the bike is a bit unstable in the fast corners. We still have a lot of work to do but we know we have the potential to be competitive.”
Marc Marquez – 8. místo
CZ: „Celkem vzato to byl docela dobrý den, protože obvykle máme tady v Assenu problémy, zatímco dnes jsem se na motorce cítil dobře od začátku a byl jsem schopný si udržet dobrý rytmus. Motorka byla trochu nestabilní, ale zlepšili jsme to nastavením. Odpoledne jsme s tvrdými pneumatikami pracovali hodně pro závod. Vypadá to, že jde všechno správným směrem, ale ve stejnou chvíli se zdá, že je tento víkend všechno hodně vyrovnané. Počasí je dobré, takže se všichni mohou dobře na závod připravit. Výběr správných pneumatik bude důležitý, zejména vzadu. Máme dvě velice podobné verze a to může vést k výhodě nebo k chybě. Musíme si dobře vybrat.“
EN: “All in all, the day was quite good because here in Assen we normally struggle, whereas today I felt good with the bike from the beginning and was able to keep a good rhythm. The bike was a bit unstable, but we improved that with the setup. In the afternoon, we worked a lot for the race, on hard tyres. It looks like everything is going in the correct direction, but at the same time it seems that everything is very tight this weekend. The weather is good, so everyone can prepare well for the race. Choosing the right tyres will be important, especially the rear. We have two very similar options, and that can lead to an advantage or a mistake. We have to choose well.”
Alex Rins – 9. místo
CZ: „Na rovince cítím u nové specifikace motoru zlepšení v dodávce výkonu. Uprostřed zatáček a při výjezdech ze zatáček motor funguje stejně, takže je to hlavně na rovince, kde mi dává trochu více výkonu a díky tomu můžu být na rovinách rychlejší. Tento víkend jsme začali dobře a krok za krokem pracujeme na závodním nastavení. Zítra budeme pracovat na stabilitě motorky.“
EN: “I can feel the improvement in power delivery from the new engine spec. on the straight. In the middle of the corners and the corner exits, the engine is working in the same way, so it’s mainly on the straight where it gives us a bit more power and thanks to this I can be faster on the straights. We’ve started this weekend well and we’re working step-by-step on race set-up. Tomorrow we’ll work on the stability of the bike.”
Johann Zarco – 10. místo
CZ: „Dnes ráno to tady v Assenu začalo těžce. S motorkou jsem se hodně klouzal a když se tohle stane, tak ztratíte hodně kontroly. Takže jsem s tím od prvního tréninku bojoval a věděl jsem, že se musíme pokusit motorku lépe zvládat. Odpoledne jsme udělali obrovský pokrok, který mi hodně pomohl. Bohužel jsem měl malý pád, ale naštěstí mě nic nebolí, navíc jsme poznali důvod, proč se to stalo, což je důležité. Myslím, že můžeme dál pracovat s tímto dobrým pocitem, který jsme odpoledne měli. Na motorce si to užívám a tohle mi určitě pomůže najít tempo, abych byl zpátky vpředu s ostatními.“
EN:“This morning the beginning here in Assen was difficult. I was sliding a lot with the bike and when this happens, you lose the control too much. So, I was fighting from the first practice on and knew, that we have to try to control the bike better. In the afternoon we did a huge step, that helped me a lot. Unfortunately, I had a small crash, but luckily I don’t feel any pain, plus we understand the reason for this, which is important. I think we can keep on working with this good feeling we had in the afternoon, I still enjoy sitting on the bike and this will for sure help to find the pace to be with the top guys again.”
Dani Pedrosa – 11. místo
EN: “As always, things are a bit difficult at this track, but some runs were better that others. Something we need to focus on is our performance with the soft tyre. Today we weren’t able to improve when we fitted it. Another area we need to address is the T4 sector of the track, where we want to perform better and be faster. For the rest, we’re getting on the rhythm and hopefully we’ll be able to exploit the good weather and take a step tomorrow.”
Hafizh Syahrin – 12. místo
EN: “I felt very good on the first day, we are just 0.8 from the front. I have the sensation that I can do a little bit better, but sometimes you feel this, but something disturbs you. I was on the fast lap and found a bit of traffic. Anyway, I believe that I can improve my lap time from now. Overall, it’s ok. In the first Free Practice I tried to learn and tried to understand the track, because this circuit is very fast. In FP2 I felt really good, like in Montmeló we are close to the top 10 again, which is quite good. I’m the first rookie again and aim to stay in this position, plus trying to get into Q2. I hope that we can make another step forward tomorrow.”
Aleix Espargaro – 13. místo
EN: “Today I rediscovered positive sensations on my Aprilia – much better than in Barcelona. It is true that we are not high up in the provisional standings, but we are not too far away. I turned a lot of laps, maintaining a good pace. I think that tomorrow we’ll have an excellent chance of improving further and, with a good lap, aiming to go straight through to Q2.”
Alvaro Bautista – 14. místo
EN: “It has been a positive day, the position is not one of the best but we were always close. In the end I was unable to put one good lap together because I ran into some traffic and couldn’t take much time off my best lap. I am happy because we did some tyre tests this afternoon so that we know what compound to run in the high temperatures that we are encountering. We more or less have a clear idea about the set-up for tomorrow so we will push hard in FP3 to try go directly to Q2, then set a good grid position and make the most of my pace in the race.”
Karel Abraham – 15. místo
EN: “I think we had a very good day today. We had a couple of issues to sort out on both ends of the bike so we worked hard and improved a little bit with every exit. Our strategy was to use a fresh tyre, a different tyre, on the last exit and again it was a little bit better. I was in a good group in front of me and made a pretty good lap time. It wasn’t just one lap though, we made quite a few in the mid to high 1’34s and we are very close to Alvaro so that’s good.”
Jack Miller – 16. místo
EN: “We have problems with the rear grip. We can’t find traction especially in the first part of the circuit. With the hard tyre I went strong but in the time attack, I wasn’t able to be competitive. We’ll work to solve the problems tonight and I’m confident.“
Tito Rabat – 17. místo
EN: “It was a difficult day, but we came to a lot of conclusions because we know where our problems stem from. We know how to solve these and we have the right solutions for tomorrow, because we’ve only missed a few small details to put the right package together. Let’s see if we can do this small step on Saturday and claw our way back to the front with a good FP3”.

EN: “It was a tricky day overall. I started strongly in the morning to be eighth fastest but then in the afternoon we tried some things that didn’t work very well and I could not go faster. EN: „It was a bit of a tough day for me, I struggled to adapt to the MotoGP bike on this track – it was quite difficult. From FP1 to FP2 I already knew I was quite competitive in the final sector, but the first three sectors I have to try and improve a lot and adapt my riding style.The good thing is that we know the point where we’re losing in those sectors, so today we’ll study that and see what we can do better tomorrow.”
Scott Redding – 22. místo
EN: „This morning I struggled a bit in terms of stability and tyre combination. The RS-GP moved around a lot. In the afternoon, we were able to improve. I felt good in the saddle and I had fun riding. On the last run, a problem with the transponder kept the electronic settings from working the way they should have, so it wasn’t possible to do a better time. We need to work on making the bike less twitchy. When it moves around it makes it hard to ride and it makes you lose precision.”
Thomas Lüthi – 23. místo
EN: “I am fighting a bike that feels very nervous so it was a difficult day at this track where you need to be smooth and calm to set a fast time. We are still working to find a set-up for the ideal rhythm and although I was faster in the afternoon we are still need a solution to be in a better position for qualifying.”
Xavier Simeon – 24. místo
EN: “Today was a learning day. The Assen circuit has a completely different layout compared to Barcelona. This circuit feels more like a karting track and with the Ducati. I struggled a lot in the corners, mostly in fast direction changes, because this bike is quite heavy. I didn’t manage to squeeze the maximum performance out of the bike, but I knew this would be like that. I was hoping to be a littler faster, but the good part is that I know the points on the track where I lose time. I’m sure that we make a step forward tomorrow”.
